You know a funny thing about life, is that you really have little control over what is going to happen next. At any given moment in your life, the perpetual life around you gets directly in the way.
In a year’s time I went from living in two rooms in my parent’s home with four children and a dog, to getting a job and finding a government program that allowed me to buy a house for my family. For years I could only imagine what it would be like if we had our own home…one that was our own from the ground to the sky. Then I did it. I did it against all the negative opinions, against all logic, against all doubt that I faced; I did it and all by myself as a single mother.
I’ve always believed that weakness is a choice. Yes, weakness is a choice; YOU make the choice to allow weakness in. The words “I cannot” are two simple words that mean, “I am quitting before I even try”. Those words disguise our weakness to ourselves and to others; by many it is expected and accepted. However, if you want something bad enough, I mean REALLY want it bad and envision yourself having it, regardless of what the “it” is, you will find a way to get it. It’s really very simple if you think about it. It truly all comes down to one single thing in life, it all comes down to YOU.
I started my One Tough Muther (#OTM) advice column by the nudge of my own children, to give advice and help girls and women (and men too) realize their self worth, strength and abilities. My vision was to write an advice column that will become published one day in major magazines and syndicated throughout the world; because who doesn’t need good old fashioned Mutherly advice? To my surprise, OTM has turned into its own brand with thousands of people around the world wearing Muther Wear and proudly displaying their choice to be tough and overcome obstacles. OTM radio will also be heard on stations worldwide in the very near future.
My purpose, my passion and my story is not about me, it’s about telling others that they can do it too; that they can be anything and everything they ever wanted to be, they just have to believe.
I want to inspire all audiences and demographics to understand that against all odds, all advice and all direction, the only person that has to truly believe in them is the person they look at everyday in the mirror. If I could do it, anyone can do it.
So be afraid, be very afraid of what you can accomplish. Yes that’s right! Your wildest dreams are within your reach. If you’re reading this, I would like to welcome you to the Tough Muther Army because whether you realize it now or not, YOU are One Tough Muther!!
